The schedule for the August Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) payouts, also widely recognized as food stamps, has been announced, with dates varying across the states.

SNAP is a fundamental financial support system for low-income families across the United States, impacting households in all 50 states, Washington D.C., and U.S. territories.

Recipients receive their benefits via electronic benefit transfer (EBT) cards, which can be used like a debit card at many retailers.

Although funded by the federal government, the administration and distribution of SNAP benefits are the responsibility of individual state governments.

This leads to a diverse payment schedule, with each state having its own specific dates and sometimes criteria for distribution.

For example, in certain states, the date on which a recipient receives their benefits can depend on factors such as the last digit of their case number.

In others, benefits may be distributed according to the alphabetical order of the recipient's last name. And in states like Alaska and South Dakota, all SNAP benefits are issued on a single day to everyone.
