The SNAP program gives extra money each month to help Americans with low or no income buy the food they need. This help is given through EBT cards, kind of like debit cards, that get filled with money each month.

You can use these cards at many stores all over the country. The money comes from the federal government, but it's the states or certain local areas that decide when to give it out.

Important Update for SNAP Recipients

A group of lawmakers is asking for action to make sure people who lose their SNAP benefits to fraud can get those benefits back. Right now, there's a rule that says stolen benefits have to be replaced, but that rule might end on September 30 unless something changes.

This is especially important because there's been a lot of benefit theft lately. The lawmakers stress that extending this rule is crucial to keep protecting people who rely on SNAP, including veterans, families, low-income workers, children, the elderly, and disabled individuals. They are working on making the card system better and safer for everyone.
